The 5 People You Meet In Heaven

It may be hard to believe, but yes everyone, I read a book. Finally. I read The 5 People You Meet In Heaven and enjoyed it very much. I would suggest it to anyone. It combines a story of death with a love story and a history lesson all in one. I found many inspirational quotes and wanted to share them. I hope will convince some of you out there to pick it up. It’s a quick and refreshing read!

“This is the greatest gift God can give to you: to understand what happened in your life. To have it explained. It is the peace you have been searching for.”

“There are not random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind.”

“’Fairness’, he said, ‘does not govern life and death. If it did, no good person would ever die young.’”

“It is because the human spirit knows, deep down, that all lives intersect. That death doesn’t just take someone, it misses someone else, and in the small distance between being taken and being missed, lives are changed.”

“That is what heaven is. You get to make sense of your yesterdays.”

“Sacrifice is a part of life. It’s supposed to be. It’s not something to regret. It’s something to aspire to. Little sacrifices. Big sacrifices.”

“’Things that happen before you are born still affect you,’ she said. ‘And all people who come before your time affect you as well.”

“We move through places every day that would never have been if not for those who came before us. Our workplaces, where we spend so much time-we often think they began with our arrival. That’s not true.”

“Holding anger is a poison. It eats you from inside. We think that hating is a weapon that attacks the person who harmed us. But hatred is a curved blade. And the harm we do, we do to ourselves.”…..“Forgive, Edward. Forgive.”

“No one is born with anger. And when we die, the soul is freed of it.”

“People say they “find” love, as if it were an object hidden by a rock. But love takes many forms, and it is never the same for any man and woman.”

“Love, like rain, can nourish from above, drenching couples with a soaking joy. But sometimes, under the angry heat of life, love dries on the surface and must nourish from below, tending to its roots, keeping itself alive.”

“Lost love is still love…it takes a different form, that’s all.”

“Life has to end,” she said. “Love doesn’t.”

“…the secret of heaven: that each affects the other and the other affects the next, and the world is full of stories, but the stories are all one.”

Spring Break Crafting

What does a sorority girl do when she has free time? Craft.

Here are a few crafts I did over the break. Others I cannot show, as they are gifts that haven’t been given yet!

The first project was the flowers for our wall. They are made out of toilet paper rolls. You cut them into thirds, paint them and then hot glue together in the flower-ish shape. I chose to make them in two colors. The picture below is what they look like. I am thinking I need to add a few more to really complete the look.

The second and third projects were a gifs….So no photos sorry!

Third project was to Mod Podge all of my roommates light switch covers with a paper that matched their room. It was a very fun little project and here are the results!

The final project was “The VS” signs for our house. I was inspired by the Victoria’s Secret bags for this project! Everyone has been loving the signs so far. We hung them right by our front door. I taped off the canvases off with painters tape and did the stripes then used glitter and glue to do the words.

Spring Break!

This spring break consisted of the hot Arizona sun, shopping, crafting and spending time with my Momma!

I spent the first weekend of spring break visiting Kelly in Arizona. We went shopping and I spent some quality time poolside. It was so wonderful to see Kelly and spend time with her! Sometimes it is hard to be away from your best friends, but that weekend really showed me that true friendships can actually grow stronger with distance and time. One evening Kelly, her little and another Kappa sister and I all hiked up Camel Back. It was a lot of fun, and I realized it is a lot easier when it isn't scorching hot outside! I also found my formal dress in Arizona. Crossing that one off the list of “to-do’s!”
I even started reading a book over the break. This is a huge thing for me, seeing as I usually only read a few books a year most of which happens during the summer. I started reading “The Five People You Meet in Heaven,” and my goal is to finish it by the end of break (yepp…that is tonight) and I think I will meet that goal.
During the few days between Arizona and my mom visiting, my hours were spent crafting, at the spa and cleaning the wonderful VS. Spring has sprung and so did spring cleaning!

Then Mom arrived. We shopped our hearts out. Re-stocked my cupboards. Watched movies. Organized and slightly re-arranged my room. And got pedicures! I got shoes for Lorin’s wedding and shoes for formal, plus tons of other cute stuff! Very successful shopping with Mom!!! What a wonderful way to end my spring break! For St. Patty’s Day Mom made us corned beef and cabbage and we made green frosted cupcakes! Always being festive here at The VS.
Overall, the spring break was full of relaxation and rejuvenation. Just what I needed!

Oh, and The VS is now decorated for Easter. Stay tuned for the crafting post as well as Easter Décor J

Kappa Soup & Big Budah

Kappa's spring philanthropy event is called Kappa Soup. Similar to Kappa Gobble, it is a $5 donation to the YWCA for all you can eat soup. We hold the event at our house, and it is always a hit! We also were blessed to have Big Budah from Salt Lake City's Fox 13 broadcast the morning show from our house. We had members from several Greek houses represent. We played games and showed the public how great the Greek community really is! Here are a few pictures from the event!

Greek Life

There are so many people out there that hate on the greeks. We party too much. We don't go to class. We haze. Well folks, none of this is true! And here is an inspiring article to show you just that!!

A Defense of Greek Life

Please read! I'm so happy that I amma!

Televison Star For a Night

Back on my birthday, in November, Lorin and I were filmed at Ruth's Diner for the television show What Would You Do on ABC. This past Friday our show was aired. They filmed at a few locations in Utah, and the whole episode was centered around stereotypes and issues that are relevant in Utah.

Here is a link to view the show. We are in the first segment!

ABC--What Would You Do-- Utah

Enjoy, but don't poke too much fun. Also a side note, they cut a lot of really good parts out!
