Memorial Day

Memorial Day: A day to remember those who have died in Military service to United States of America.

Originally, Memorial Day was called Declaration Day and was to remember those who died in battle. Now, Memorial Day has taken on many new meanings. It is acceptable to wear white between Memorial Day and Labor Day. It has also become known as the start of summer. BBQ's, picnics and family events typically held on this day.
This year, my roommates and I took a Memorial Day hike to "the living room" in Salt Lake. It was a beautiful day and an amazing little hike. It is called the living room because people have literally set up rocks in the shapes of chairs so that you can sit on them and take in the beautiful views of the city.

When we got back home we had a little fun with sidewalk chalk. It was fun to be a kid again!

Boise lovin.

I took a quick trip home in May to say a quick hello to the family and friends, as well as a goodbye to my dear friend Taylor who is in Africa for the summer. It is always sad to know you aren’t going to see a friend for a while, but I always remind myself that it isn’t goodbye, rather an “I’ll see ya later.” It was so great to go home, and see everyone. It really makes me realize what an amazing family I have, as well as a great group of friends that has become family too. I know I could count on certain people at home for anything, and I really miss them and hate that I can’t see them more often. Much love to my family and friends in Boise.

 Love these people. lots.
Kappa sisters.
Oh and a little history on the awkward family photo…..throughout senior year Kelly, Tommy, Taylor and I all became a little family. We were always watching out for each other and were constantly together. Anyway, one holiday we decided to have a family photo, and the tradition has been carried out ever since! It is kind of fun to look back and see all of them! Heheh

Much love,
Hails.

Two words. Lake. Powell.

At the very beginning of summer Ashley, Kelsey and I made the long trip down to Arizona, to hit Lake Powell. Every summer the fraternities do trips to Powell and Mead. I chose to go to Powell with the Pikes this year. We had a blast. Let’s just say their saying of “P.O.W.E.L.L., Pike OverWhelms Every Last Looser” is true. There were lots of activities including swimming and cliff diving. We were blessed with amazing weather for the weekend. We rode out on a houseboat and spent a few nights camped out on the beach (in a very large ten person tent for just the three of us). We had quite the time!! We might even attend next year. Who knows….

Ash and I.
 The Kappas who went!
 Pretty much everyone.
Two thumbs up for POWELL.
